My Story

As I tell myself, “Whoever you are and whatever you do, finding the best tools for your project is the most important factor.” At the same time, I find it to be a real challenge. First, let me share my personal experience.

I was once completely unfamiliar with IT, it felt like a dark forest. Although I saw mouseless PCs in operation (we called them IBM) in 1992, I started using MS with the MOUSE though and witnessed the shift from Windows 95 to 98 and beyond. Like an ordinary user, I used these machines only to the extent required by my responsibilities in the office.

To help you, the reader, understand: I used Microsoft Excel when it could support only a single sheet in a .xls file. The software wasn’t even capable of handling more than one sheet per file at the time. Later came the 3-sheet option, then 16 sheets, and eventually, 8 sheets became the default with the ability to increase or decrease the number as needed.

Back then, I couldn’t even dream of owning a personal IBM computer. They were only available at the office. PCs and laptops were expensive. The average price for a laptop was around $5,000, if I recall correctly.

In the late 90s I had the opportunity to get my own PC. I don’t remember ever being without one since. Today, I can’t imagine living without a laptop next to my mobile phone.

But do we use these machines to their full potential? No, I doubt it. We tend to use them only as far as our knowledge allows. Most of us focus on one field and sharpen our skills within that specific niche. I wanted to go beyond that. I wanted to explore a broader scope, and I was genuinely curious about AI. So I've spent the past few years diving deep into this particular forest.

Along the way, I discovered various “berries”, tasty and useful resources, and began consuming them one by one. Long story short, today I’ve built my HUB: my personal island in the ocean. What is a HUB? You can think of it as an underwater creature, like an octopus, flexible, far-reaching, and capable of doing many things at once.

This HUB now allows me to leverage its capabilities for any online business that aligns with my interests.

Pros and Cons:

  • PRO: It makes you tech-savvy, exactly to the extent you allow yourself. Remember, the sky is the limit.

  • CON: The flip side of owning this digital island is that, whether I like it or not, I constantly have to keep learning: Prompt Engineering, maintenance, and staying up-to-date. It’s time-consuming.

If AI Automation Is the Future, Are UI/UX Experts at Risk of Losing Their Jobs?

As you know, today we have overwhelming technology, and our challenge is to choose the right tools and learn how to use them effectively. I assume I would be less tech-savvy today if I hadn’t entered this dark forest (the IT field) years ago. Thanks to what I’ve learnt over those years, I can now imagine how certain things are done and what tools can be used for my projects. The most important things here are:

• Knowledge

• Access to all these advanced technologies

• Implementation

Missing point: I don’t want to talk about mindset stuff. I’m sure the reader is wise enough to understand it comes first.

Talking about AI

AI is starting to change how we interact with the Internet by acting on our behalf. They can autonomously operate across websites to browse, book, and buy without us. We, humans navigate websites visually, AI navigates them structurally. We read pixels, AI reads code, hence AI is waaay faster.

Just a few years ago, AI wasn’t used as widely by the masses as it is now. Today, we have so many Artificial Intelligences making our lives easier. However, what happened is happened and fortunately, due to the lack of such modern tech in the past, you probably became an expert in the field of UX, speaking the languages like:

  • HTML – used for front-end development

  • CSS – used for front-end development

  • JavaScript – used for front-end development

  • Python – used for front-end and back-end development

  • Java – used for back-end and mobile development

  • PHP – used for various reasons

  • Objective-C or Swift – used for whatever the reason is

and now, you can easily see and understand the benefits of the latest technologies. If you can code using one of above mentioned languages, that’s great! But today having AI capabilities anyone can code. If you’re experienced in coding one language and want to use the other one, you know exactly what AI can do for you, it’s just a matter of prompting.

Even AI is starting to change how we interact with the internet by acting on our behalf. It can autonomously browse, book, and buy across websites without us. But it won’t do any of that unless you make it work the way you want by creating and automating an AI Agent for yourself.

Coming to UI

Unfortunately, I have bad news, but only for those who rely solely on it as a source of income. Because nowadays, AI is capable of generating sophisticated UI designs with real text and replacing humans. Specially created AI bots can even carry out testing; hence, AI in general can replace graphic designers and UI experts.

While UI is at risk, UX is safe. Because UX involves not only working with data but also with perception. The solution? Be an expert in both areas. Or better yet, enhance your skills in Prompt Engineering.

To prove that - we’re all visual individuals. We want to design the finer details and make sure digital products are both beautiful and user-friendly. Consequently, we can’t overlook UI at the very least, we need to be familiar with it, with them all.

So, Why Prompt Engineers Are Paid More Than Coders Now? Because a variety of SaaS platforms are now accessible to the general public.
